Directions to Green Hope from the West (M6)

  1. M6 Carlisle (44 ) Turn to the A7 towards Longtown (Cumbr). Turn to the A7; Langholm.
  2. Follow right the A7 to Hawick. Go to the A698 at Denholm; Stay on the A698 to the A68.
  3. Follow the A68 North to St Boswells, and at Earlston, turn to the A6105 to Greenlaw.
  4. Follow left the A6105 to Duns. Take the A6112 NNE (sign posted Grantshouse) and after 1 mile fork left onto B6365 (Sp. Cranshaws).
  5. Continue on B6365 / B6355 for about 6 miles.
  6. Pass red telephone box on R. and cross bridge. 100 yds. and turn right into lane at green sign ‘Ellemford Estate’.
  7. 250 m. and pass in front of the cottages. Continue on small lane parallel to river. Green Hope is at the end of the lane (about 1km).
  8. The Cottage entrance is by the Green Door at the front. The River Suite entrance is by the glass-panelled door on the right hand end of the building.

Directions from the East (A1)

  1. A1 Berwick on Tweed.
  2. From Bypass, turn to A6105
  3. Follow to Chirnside.
  4. 1/2 mile past Chirnside and turn R to B6355. Arriving at Preston, turn left onto A6112; continue through village 3-400 yds and fork right towards Cranshaws.
  5. About 2 miles and turn R at T-junction, and continue towards Cranshaws.
  6. After 3-4 miles, look for telephone box on R (opposite a junction sp. Whitchester)
  7. As from 6 above

Directions from Edinburgh

  1. Follow A1 south to Haddington.
  2. Turn onto the B636(8)9 and follow for about 4 miles to Gifford.
  3. At white church in village turn left onto B6355 and follow for about 15 miles, passing the Whiteadder reservoir,and through Cranshaws.
  4. After Cranshaws, continue (about 4 miles) until you reach the Ellemford Bridge (a large 3-arch stone bridge that crosses the Whiteadder River. Just before crossing the bridge, by a white cottage on the corner, turn left onto a small lane sp. ‘Ellemford Estate’.
  5. Continue as from 7 above
